Country shows are definitely not a dying tradition. If you put in the hard yards and you believe in your committee and volunteers, then nothing is impossible and Ardlethan Show proved that last Saturday, doubling the gate numbers and astounding all naysayers to boot. What a resounding success. Coolamon Shire Mayor David McCann has praised the Ardlethan Show Society for delivering “truly outstanding” Ardlethan Show last Saturday. Councillor McCann was in attendance to present some awards at the show. “The energy, organisation and community spirit on display were the result of many months of dedicated work from the committee and volunteers, all focused on ensuring everyone enjoyed a memorable day,” he said. “I was honoured to be invited to present awards and share a few remarks recognising the commitment and hard work of the Show Committee. “Their efforts continue to strengthen this much-loved local tradition and showcase the best of our community.” Attending the show also gave Cr McCann the chance to catch up with Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke. “It was great to have also caught up with our hard-working local member and have the opportunity to discuss her recent announcement of a $5 billion Regional Water and Sewer Infrastructure Program and what it would mean for the Coolamon Shire,” Cr McCann said. Mother nature played her part as well, with beautiful balmy weather to cap off a wonderful day. So much was happening it was hard to say what made it all so successful, but everybody had huge smiles on their faces, with plenty of sideshows, horse events, exhibits and stalls to fill the entire showground precinct. It certainly bodes well for next year, and true to form, the committee is already planning for an even better show for 2027, if that is even possible.
