Temora residents are being invited to attend a community information drop-in session next week to learn more about the Temora Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Project. North Harbour Clean Energy (NHCE) is preparing to lodge a development application with the State Government for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on the corner of Miners Street and Old Cootamundra Road. The site area is about 3.6 hectares. The BESS will assist in matching electricity supply from renewable sources such as solar and wind to consumer demand. It will do this by storing electricity during periods of excess generation or supply to be used later during periods of high electricity demand. The drop-in sessions will give people the chance to meet the North Harbour team and learn more about the project and the outcomes of the technical assessments undertaken. Those who attend can ask questions and provide feedback. NHCE believes exploring community views of the project in the early development stage will help “shape the design and assessment of the project’s viability”. Following the early engagement, NHCE will prepare a “Scoping Report” incorporating community feedback, to lodge with the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. The drop-in sessions will take place on Wednesday 22 July at Fed and Bed, 173 Hoskins Street from 11.30am to 2.30pm and 4pm to 7pm. Refreshments will be provided.
