Temora Shire Council continues to make strong progress on key projects, services and initiatives across the shire, despite ongoing financial sustainability challenges facing councils across regional New South Wales. At its May ordinary meeting, council received the third quarter review of Our Plan for the Future for the 2025/26 financial year, covering the period from January to March 2026. Our Plan for the Future integrates Council’s Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program and Operational Plan under the Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) Framework. Together, these documents guide how council delivers services, projects and long-term outcomes for the community. The quarterly review highlighted steady progress across council’s strategic priorities, with: • 89 actions progressing • 21 actions completed • 25 actions not yet due to commence • 7 actions currently not progressing • 1 action awaiting grant funding Temora Shie Council mayor Rick Firman said the report demonstrates Council’s continued commitment to delivering meaningful outcomes for our shire community while carefully managing financial pressures. “Like many councils across regional NSW, we are facing significant financial sustainability challenges,” Cr Firman said. “Despite these pressures, this report shows that council is continuing to make progress across a broad range of priorities that matter to our shire community.” “These actions reflect the hard work being done by councillors and our staff to care for our community, protect and enhance our natural environment, create liveable spaces, support economic growth and provide responsible leadership.” Cr Firman said the quarterly review also reflects council’s ongoing focus on transparency and accountability. “Regular reporting allows both council and our residents to track progress and ensure we remain focused on delivering the priorities identified by our community.” “While there are challenges ahead, council remains committed to working responsibly and strategically to continue delivering services, infrastructure and projects that support the future of our Temora Shire.” The full updated draft Our Plan for the Future 2025–2035 is currently on public exhibition until Thursday 12 June.
