Well-known local Frank McRae will be honoured at the FarmLink Field Walk on Friday, 4 September with a life membership to Farmlink Research. The honour recognises Mr McRae’s outstanding contribution as an agricultural researcher, farmer and industry professional. He has been involved in family mixed farming operations in southern NSW and beef grazing operations on the Central Tablelands. His professional career has included working as a technical specialist in cereals with Industry and Investment NSW, collaborating with breeding programs and conducting trials including National Variety Trials for cereals, pulses and oilseeds. He has also worked in the commercial seed industry, working with plant breeders, conducting trials and demonstrations, and taking new products to market. The Chairman of FarmLink, Mr Rob McColl said that the Life Member award recognises individuals who have made an exceptional and lasting contribution to FarmLink and agricultural research and innovation in southern NSW, which Frank has demonstrated over many decades” Mr McRae has been involved with FarmLink for many years, including serving on the FarmLink Board of Directors. When he joined the board in 2022, he brought more than 40 years of experience across agricultural research and development, farming and business management. FarmLink CEO Shaughn Morgan said the Life Membership was a fitting recognition of Frank's contribution. “Frank has made an enormous contribution to FarmLink and to agriculture more broadly,” Mr Morgan said. “His combination of practical farming experience, technical knowledge and decades of involvement in research and development has been incredibly valuable to FarmLink. “We are very pleased to recognise his contribution with Life Membership.” Mr McRae said that he was pleased to have been able to put something back into agricultural research, both at the experimental farm and FarmLink,” he said. “I am grateful for this recognition” The FarmLink Life Member Award will be presented at the FarmLink Field Walk on Friday, 4 September at 8:45am, at the Temora Agricultural Innovation Centre.
