As the rise in the wellness sector gains momentum, Temora is one of only a few regional towns to have a specialist head spa and a familiar face taking over the specialist business next week on Friday 12 June. Rhonda Pike is well known to many locals simply as Rhoe and has been a fixture of local sporting life for many years. Now she will be embarking on a new chapter as a small business owner in the fast-growing wellness sector. Formally Salon Sass and Co Ms Pike has rebranded the business to Head Spa by Rhoe and it will operate from Shop 5, 129-131 Hoskins Street. A head spa is a specialist scalp wellness treatment that focuses on detoxing, exfoliating, and nourishing the scalp through deep cleaning, aromatherapy, warm water therapy and extended scalp, neck and shoulder massage. Originating in Japan the concept is still relatively new in regional Australia with only around 100 sites operating throughout Australia, including the large cities but its popularity is growing rapidly, driven in part, by social media videos extolling the benefits of the treatment. The business was operating successfully under its previous ownership for five months before the birth of a child prompted the sale of the business. Ms Pike has purchased the business and will take over the current client base as well as expanding to introduce new clients to the benefits of the treatment. “Temora might be a small town, but people here deserve the same things people in the cities have access to,” she said. “You shouldn’t have to drive to Wagga or Canberra to have an hour to yourself.” The business appeals to Ms Pike as she says she has always been someone that likes taking care of people. “This feels like a natural next step,” she said. “I want people to walk in carrying the weight of the week and walk out feeling completely reset.” To celebrate the change of ownership, Ms Pike is offering an opening special of $20 off treatment for the first 20 bookings, but once those 20 spots are gone the offer closes. A one-hour treatment includes scalp analysis, deep cleansing, exfoliation, warm water aromatherapy and a full neck, head and shoulder massage. Operating hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9am – 7pm, closed Tuesday and for Saturday or Sunday appointments it is just a matter of calling.
