Damien McMahon hasn’t had it easy throughout his life but that hasn’t stopped him from fulfilling his dreams of becoming an author. He has just released his second book which is a compendium of four short stories including his life story and how after being diagnosed with the degenerative nerve disease of Friedreich’s Ataxia as a child he has travelled life’s journey. It is a very rare condition that damages the spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and the cerebellum part of the brain and also leads to heart problems and diabetes. Although the disease has now rendered him blind, he is still determined to pursue his dreams. The 38-year-old author decided at the age of 23 that he wanted to write and has worked towards that goal with another 11 stories on his laptop yet to be published. The second story follows a man that has spent years in prison, and he has devised a plan during his incarceration and convinces his family to help only to have tragedy strike. In the third installment is set in the 1880s when a group of teenage boys witness a bank robbery and it inspires them to fantasize about a future in a similar life. The next and last story takes us to the other side of the world as a father and son archeologist team hunt for ancient Egyptian treasure.
