After 40 years the Ariah Park B and S Ball has gone out with a bang with 1600 people attending the final event. Dwindling attendances and rising costs over recent years had forced the decision to bring the local event to an end. Well before the start on Saturday night the streets in Ariah Park were lined with utes starting on Friday afternoon. In a Facebook post the committee expressed their gratitude to all those that attended and made the final ball an amazing event and thanked the entire Ariah Park community for the support over the last 40 years. “To our current committee members and president, well done on putting together such an incredible weekend. All the hard work, commitment and countless hours have certainly paid off,” the post said. “To our volunteers and hardworking crews, from the bar, barbecue and breakfast teams to our gate staff, thank you for keeping the cups full, the bellies fed and getting everyone through the gates efficiently. We couldn’t have done it without you.” Funds raised from the event are directed towards supporting local infrastructure in the town and this year’s proceeds are no different with the committee considering funding submissions in the coming months.
