Community markets are a great way for communities to come together and local small traders and artisans to ply their wares to those looking for a unique gift as we approach the Christmas season. Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke is encouraging residents and visitors to support the many community markets across the electorate over the coming weeks. From fresh regional produce and handmade goods to arts, crafts and community fundraising, local markets play an important role right across the Cootamundra electorate. “Our community markets are gathering places that show the unique character of our towns and support local businesses, all while bringing the community together,” Ms Cooke said. “They are an opportunity for local producers and small businesses to display their products, while bringing together locals and encouraging visitors to explore everything the region has to offer. “By supporting these markets, locals are investing directly in local families, community groups and regional economies.” Upcoming market dates across the electorate include: • 31 October – Lions Club of Young Community Market • 1 November – Murringo Village Markets • 1 November – Junee Rotary Markets • 5 November – Hilltops Community Hub Twilight Markets • 7-8 November – Marrar Christmas Markets • 7 November – Young and Region Farmers Markets • 7 November – Narrandera Spring Fair • 8 November – Junee Markets on the Green • 8 November – Cootamundra Sunday Markets at Albert Park • 21 November – Young and Region Farmers Markets • 21 November – Barellan Hall Markets • 21 November – Hilltops Christmas Tree Farm Markets • 22 November – Temora Town Christmas Markets • 26 November – Popped Up in Gundagai Christmas Market • 28 November – Boorowa Rotary Community Makers and Growers Market The markets coming up are a great way to start Christmas shopping. “Our market stallholders work incredibly hard to create quality products and experiences,” Ms Cooke said. “If you’re looking for fresh produce, unique gifts, homewares, plants, gifts or a great day out with family and friends, it’s well worth taking a look at your local community markets. “Mark these dates in your calendar, support local stallholders and enjoy the local energy that makes our towns and villages such great places to live.”
