Emergency services in Temora were out in force on Monday 15 June, after a house on Rifle Range Road in Temora was reported alight at about 5pm. On arrival crews were faced with a building that was already well alight. Fire and Rescue crews attacked the fire wearing breathing apparatus and it was quickly established no one was inside. Temora Rural Fire Service (RFS) were also called to the scene and worked closely with the Fire and Rescue teams to ensure all other buildings on the property were kept safe from the radiant heat from the main fire. The building was an asbestos construction adding to the complexity and danger of the fire which required additional resources with crews from Cootamundra, Harden and Wagga Wagga called in to assist. Fire crews were joined by Temora police and ambulance as well as Essential Energy who all worked together over several hours to make the ensure the fire was extinguished and to make the scene safe. Investigations into the fire are continuing to determine the cause.
