The Temora Dragons will be looking for a repeat of their round two clash with the Young Cherrypickers at Nixon Park which they won 36-24 after at one stage leading 32-4. However, since that game the Dragons form has been "hot and cold", with some big wins on one hand but losing games that they should have won, like Cootamundra in round one and the South City Bulls the following week, with their other loss to the competition leaders, Gundagai, at Nixon Park. After 10 rounds the competition is the closest it has been for quite a number of years with only three points separating the top three and six points between the top and sixth teams, Gundagai and Cootamundra respectively. This weekend's round 11 is interesting with Young, second, hosting the third placed Dragons at Alfreds Oval and with a win the Dragons would move into second place behind Gundagai, who should get the points in the local derby against Tumut at Anzac Oval. Two other games that will have a big effect on the composition of the top five sees fourth placed South City and Wagga Kangaroos meeting in another local derby, while the fifth and sixth placed Junee and Cootamundra will meet at Les Boyd Oval. Young will go into Sunday's game confident after the big win over the Bulls last weekend, winning 43-10, while Temora will need to put last Sunday's close 20-18 call over Cootamundra behind them. In a game they should have had wrapped up by halftime, they will need to finish off the half chances they had against the Bulldogs and turn them into points. They need to get back to playing basic football and use their backline that has speed to burn and not be obsessed with taking the ball up the middle and ignoring where most of their points have come from to date. The Dragons will be hoping to have front row forward Hayden Philp available as his strong charges were badly missed at Cootamundra. With the return of Philp, the Dragons team for Young should be much the same as last outing although David White could be missing from the interchange as he was forced off midway through the second half with what appears to be a shoulder injury. Both teams going into Sunday's all-important game have some interesting statistics. Both have played 10 games. Temora five at home and five away, while Young have had four home games and six away. Temora have won seven and lost three while Young have won six, lost one and drawn three. Temora's points for and against is 349 and 176 while Young's is 291 and 228. Sunday will see a full programme at Alfreds Oval with the League Tag starting at 9.45am, with Temora, who have struggled lately with losses to Tumut and Cootamundra, desperate to get back on the winners list. In the Weissel Cup the Dragons have a big job ahead of them against the fourth placed Cherrypickers while only having two wins to date. In the Women's Tackle match the Dragons have a chance to get within a point of the fourth placed Young, who are currently three points ahead. Temora will need to use their flyer in Belinda Nima and give her every opportunity to add to her impressive try scoring list which currently sits at 13. The second placed Dragons Reserve Grade will have to be playing basic football and use their backline, that way if a Young team who are always a danger at home, but should be able to come away from Alfreds Oval with the two competition points on offer and remain in second place, one ahead of the South City Bulls who they play the following Sunday at Nixon Park.
