Temora Rugby Union Club Women's side (Tuskerettes) forward Sam Jordan celebrated her 100th game in style last Saturday, playing a key role in her team’s 38-15 win over the Grenfell Pink Panthers.

Sam led the team out onto Bassingthwaite Park at Cootamundra and was busy in attack and defence as the Tuskerettes booked themselves a place in the grand final.

“It’s a big thing to reach another grand final, we were hoping to get a week off to prepare and really buckle down,” Jordan said.

Temora will take on the winner of the match between Grenfell and Harden this Saturday.

Sam has developed into a key player in her ten years as a Tuskerette, and hopes to add a fifth title to her CV this season.

She made her debut at 16, and now at age 26 she’s become a senior figure in the team.

“At the start I didn’t really have a voice or know what I was doing, I was a bit intimidated and scared,” Jordan said.

“My first game was against Cootamundra, I think I cried when I got hit.

“Now I have a different mindset.”

Tuskerettes head coach Bill McCrone was full of praises for Sam in the lead-up to her milestone match.

“She’s always been a really good, tough player,” McCrone said.

“At hooker she does the majority of the clearing out and is always doing the dirty work.

“She’s also a good organiser for the social side of our club and a big help on the committee.”

“A great clubperson and a stalwart.”

The grand final will be played at Boorowa on Saturday 22 August, with a kick off time of 2pm.

Sam says belief is strong within the Tuskerettes playing group as they aim for a fourth straight title.

“We’ve got a pretty solid group together and we know each other well.

“We just need to make sure we stick to our game and play our own way.”
