On Tuesday, 26 August, the Temora Police and Community Committee (TPCC) will hold its Annual General Meeting and is inviting interested community members to nominate themselves to be a part of the vital Replacing the old Neighbourhood Watch TPCC acts as a conduit between the Temora Community and the police to act in consultative capacity. TPCC secretary, Shaughn Morgan said that the committee is quite unique, with Neighbourhood Watch per se is not around as much as it used to be, if at all, but this committee is extended beyond that and we are able to actually have that engagement. “It is intended to be there to assist with some of the issues that should arise and being the old neighbourhood watch it is able to actually continue to provide support to the local command,” Mr Morgan said. “This is certainly so given that the deputy chairman of the committee is Inspector Kris Wallace who is the local command officer for the Temora district. “By undertaking this consultative mechanism not only are we able to bring issues of concern to the police, the police are able to also raise matters that the committee and therefore the community should be aware of. “The committee is representative of the community. “Our annual general meeting of the TPCC will be held on the 25 August at council chambers and expressions of interest have been put out for members of the public to put their hand up to come serve on the committee and it would be great to see a broad cross section of the community think about the important role that the committee plays.” Superintendent Andrew Spliet was recent visitor to the committee and conveyed that he is impressed about what Temora is currently able to provide as a template for other communities.
