Mayoral Citation recognises decades of service to Temora Shire

Temora Shire Council has recognised Mr Colin Hinde with a Mayoral Citation, acknowledging his significant contribution to the Shire over several decades. Mr Hinde’s involvement in local government began in 1959, when he was elected as an Alderman on Temora Municipal Council. He served until the amalgamation of Temora Municipal Council and Narraburra Shire Council in 1980 and also held the position of Deputy Mayor for a term. He continued working in local government as deputy engineer for the former Narraburra Shire Council from 1966 to 1980 and Temora Shire Council from 1981 to 1991. He also served as Council’s Returning Officer for many years, when local government elections were conducted by councils themselves. Mayor Rick Firman said the citation was an opportunity to formally recognise Mr Hinde’s service to the community. “Mr Hinde’s connection to Temora spans generations, and his work has been part of Temora Shire’s story for many years. It is a privilege to recognise his contribution with a Mayoral Citation,” Cr Firman said. Outside local government, Mr Hinde has supported a broad range of community organisations, including those involved in education, aviation, music and social activities. He has served as a patron and member of the Temora Town Band, life member and longtime Secretary of the Temora Aero Club, and member of the Temora Shed-4-Men and Temora Senior Citizens. His involvement in education has included serving on parent and community committees at local schools and as a board member of the Temora Technical College. Cr Firman said Mr Hinde’s involvement extended across many areas of the community. “Mr Hinde has contributed in many areas, from local government to supporting community groups and local schools. His many years of service reect a lasting commitment to the people and organisations that help make Temora Shire the community it is today,” Cr Firman concluded. Temora Shire Council
