Golfers from across the Riverina enjoyed a fantastic day of competition at the 2026 Combined Weethalle and Ariah Park Ladies Golf Tournament last Wednesday and Thursday, with players competing from Weethalle, Wagga City, Merriwa, Gundagai, Boorowa, Temora, Young, Thurgoona, Tumut, Coleambally and Coolamon. The tournament once again enjoyed strong support from major sponsor Elders, Coolamon Butchery, and Ariah Park Foodworks. The event featured two divisions, with players competing for Scratch and Net honours, along with novelty events throughout the day. Division One Scratch Winners Leanne Slater and Liz Harding produced an outstanding round of 72 to claim the Division One Scratch title. Runners-Up Nora Saffioti and Pip Bleyer finished second with a score of 82. Net Winners Lorraine Sinclair and Cath New won the Division One Net event with an excellent 68. Runners-Up Sylvia Spring and Gail O’Brien also returned 68, narrowly missing out after a countback. Division Two Scratch Winners Marg Townsend and Deb Noack claimed the Division Two Scratch title with 86. Runners-Up Debbie McMillan and Carolyn Rutledge finished second on 91. Net Winners Sarah Anderson and Narelle Cattle took out the Division Two Net competition with 70. Runners-Up June Shields and Janine Evans were close behind with 71. Novelty Event Winners • Nearest the Pin – 3rd Hole: Tania Carrigan • Nearest the Pin – 8th Hole: Janine Evans • Nearest the Oleander: Tammy Heffer • Straight Drive (A Grade): Nat Irvine • Straight Drive (B Grade): Sarah Anderson Overall champions The tournament’s overall winners for the two days were Leanne Slater and Liz Harding, whose combined score of 133 secured the major prize and capped off an impressive performance. The tournament was another successful event, showcasing friendly competition, excellent golf and strong support from clubs throughout the region. Congratulations to all winners, placegetters and everyone who travelled to take part in a wonderful day of golf. Thanks to the men’s golfers for their preparation of the course with a special nod to Nappa Pinney for his assistance throughout the day.
