Temora Motorcycle Club riders recently competed in the NSW Senior and Junior Dirt Track Championships with an impressive haul of podium finishes and strong performances against some of the state’s best competitors. Recently competing at The Pines Speedway, Griffith, the club celebrated some great results across the junior and senior ranks. One of the highlights was an outstanding ride from Kade Wilesmith, who was crowned NSW champion in the 50cc Auto class. Eight-year-old Kade clawed his way back from a poor start, which left him at the back of the field heading into the first corner. However, he charged back through the pack to fifth by the end of the opening straight before reeling in the leaders and taking control of the race over the final two laps. Kade capped off a remarkable title win by also finishing in third place in the 65cc and 80 Modified classes. Kade’s father Ashley, a former club Secretary, stepped down from his role to help his children with their riding abilities. Ashley said his son produced a wonderful performance for his three podium placings. “It was a great boost for his confidence,” Ashley said. “He loves it, so hopefully he’ll get it together and keep winning. “The whole event was great for a lot of our younger riders.” Meanwhile, senior rider Cooper Carnie also enjoyed a fantastic championship, finishing runner-up in the Pro 250cc class. He backed up his podium finish by qualifying for the finals, finishing in seventh place in the MX Open and ninth in the Pro 450 classes. Ryan New also performed well in the senior competition, reaching the finals in the MX Open and Pro 450 classes, recording sixth and eighth-place finishes overall. The sidecar pairing of Kurt Langebeck and Lionel Cornwell had a podium finish among the state’s best, placing third overall. Making his State Title debut, Jackson Bourke showed plenty of promise in the junior ranks, placing second in several heats before finishing fifth in the 50cc Auto class and 10th in the 65cc class. Another first-time state title rider, Louie Kotzur, was up against a strong field, but continued to push in every race, earning praise for his determination and perseverance throughout the weekend. One of the club’s youngest riders, Billy Bourke, also made his mark in the non-competitive 50cc division. Although there were no podium finishes for this class, the club believed Billy would have won the NSW title if there had been one up for grabs. Overall, the performances across all classes capped off a successful weekend for the Temora Motorcycle Club, with junior and senior riders showcasing their riding skills in various classes.
