Another Temora Dragons junior, Jed Reardon, has hit the big time, making his debut in the NRL. Called up to come on for the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs against the Melbourne Storm last Friday, Reardon joins the ranks of other Temora players such as Zac Lomax, Liam Martin and Charlie Guymer, who have become NRL regulars. Reardon came on with 14 minutes left to play and the score locked at 20-20 to be a part of the Bulldogs’ comeback 30-20 victory at Accor Stadium. Producing some solid tackles to help keep his side in the game, Reardon was also involved in the lead-up of the Bulldogs’ match-winning final try to end a five-game losing run. Reardon is a familiar name at the Bulldogs as Jed follows in his father Steve’s footsteps. Steve had played 163 games for the Bulldogs between 1991 and 2003. The Bulldogs’ coach Cameron Ciraldo is no stranger to introducing young players and believes they are a big part of the club’s future. Twenty-one-year-old Jed and his father Steve became the second father and son duo from Temora to have played NRL football, following on from Joe Stimson and his father Peter. Jed’s debut was made more special with the sight of his close family and friends in the crowd. When the game ended, he made his way to the crowd and embraced his father who followed him back onto the pitch. Meanwhile, a Bulldogs’ supporters forum commented on Jed’s debut with one of the “Kennel” members pleased to see the young Temora product taking to the field. The post echoed the sentiments of many Temora locals and Bulldogs’ fans alike. “Everything he (Jed) did was effort and it was a solid debut,” the post stated. “I also must add that I am a huge fan of his dad and if Jed has his father’s temperament, the kid will play a lot of NRL. “Congrats on your debut mate and I hope to see a lot more of you going forward.”
