Temora Junior Kangaroos have wrapped up another successful Youth Girls AFL competition, with three teams representing the club across the eight-week competition in Wagga. The competition, held on Wednesday nights throughout winter, provided opportunities for girls in the Under 12s, Under 14s and Under 16s age groups to develop their skills, build confidence and enjoy playing AFL with their mates. It is an incredible commitment from the families, coaches, managers and support staff who make the trip to Wagga every Wednesday night. The club would like to sincerely thank everyone who makes the effort to provide these opportunities for our girls. The Under 12s enjoyed a fantastic season, making it through to the Grand Final where they defeated Coolamon by 38 points to claim the premiership. The girls put in an enormous amount of effort throughout the season, with their growth in confidence and skills fantastic to watch. This was particularly impressive among some of the younger players who had never picked up an AFL football before the season began. Congratulations to coach Jake Wooden and the entire Under 12s team on an outstanding season and a well-deserved premiership. The Under 14s were led by coaches Adelaide Gaynor and Bethany Wiencke and showed plenty of energy and determination throughout the competition. With a mix of new and returning players, the girls gave 100 per cent effort each week. Despite often playing with low numbers, they never let that stop them and continued to show commitment and enthusiasm. The Under 16s also had an outstanding season, making it through to the Grand Final undefeated. Unfortunately, they fell short in the final, but this does not take away from what was an exceptional season and an incredible achievement. The team featured some highly skilled players who consistently showed their willingness to compete, work hard for each other and put their bodies on the line. A special thank you goes to coach Anthony Breust for his time, commitment and effort throughout the season. With several of the Under 16s players now moving beyond junior football, the club hopes to see them continue their football careers with the senior Temora Roos, where they have certainly shown they have the skills and ability to make the step up. The Temora Junior Kangaroos would like to thank the hardworking committee for continuing to provide these opportunities for local girls, as well as sponsor Espresso House for their support. Most importantly, the club thanks all the families, coaches, volunteers and support staff who make the weekly commitment possible. Their dedication ensures local girls have the opportunity to play football, develop their skills and be part of a team. It has been another fantastic season for the Temora Junior Kangaroos Youth Girls, and the club is incredibly proud of the efforts and achievements of all three teams.
