Temora Shire Council is partnering with the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) to host Census information sessions, designed to support culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities across the shire and surrounding areas. An online information session for employers, service providers and community leaders who work closely with CALD communities, including faith leaders, councillors, migration support services and other community representatives, took place last week. The session helped the ABS understand the best ways to engage with CALD communities and ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate in the 2026 Census. There will also be a face-to-face community information session on Wednesday 22 July from 5pm to 7pm at the Temora Shire Library for people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities who would like to learn more about the Census. It will explain what the Census is, why it matters, address any concerns and provide information about the support available to help complete it. Census Night is Tuesday 11 August and everyone in the local community should be counted. Every response helps build a clearer picture of the community and supports better planning for the services and infrastructure. Anyone who is helping to support their community or simply wants to learn more about the Census, is encouraged to attend the information session. RSVP: neil.barber@censusfield.abs.gov.au
