Temora VIEW Club Report: The value of lending a hand

Well here we are on the downhill run to Christmas. Time to start making Christmas cakes and plum puddings. President Norma Howard welcomed everyone, members and guests to our October View club meeting. Assisting in the absence of our secretary was Liz Pratt. Liz read the minutes from the September meeting and they were accepted and moved by Sally and seconded by Bev. Business arising from the minutes was the renovation of the Club auditorium. We have consequently booked the restaurant for our meetings next year. Zone Councillor Nita McIntyre relayed to us the passing of Lorraine Thompson‘s husband from Tweed Heads. Lorraine is the head of View. She also has acquired a banner to be put up at our meetings along with a tear drop to be placed at the club entrance. Our welfare officer Margaret has sent a card to the family of one of our dear members Betty Lawrence who sadly passed away recently at the grand age of 95. RIP Next month’s guest speaker is Bob Solley. All reports were accepted by Dianne and Pat. Our guest speaker was Frances Dwyer, the Temora District Citizen of the Year. Frances is the daughter of a migrant family of Scottish heritage. She has had many different positions on many community projects. From show committees to football committee she says if you are running a committee give every member a job. If they don’t volunteer then volunteer them. Generally speaking Temora or country communities find the people who will get things done. Thank you Frances for your support today. The vote of thanks was given by Norma Howard.
