The Temora Kangaroos Australian football seniors’ team emerged triumphant in yet another close game, this time defeating the Barellan Two Blues by nine points. The Kangaroos 11.13 (79) beat the Two Blues 9.16 (70) in their Farrer League home game at Nixon Park on Saturday. The game not only resulted in an important win for the Kangaroos, it also marked a milestone for Liam Sinclair, who played his 100th senior game for the Kangaroos. Since starting as a junior Kangaroo, Sinclair has become a respected leader. His commitment, loyalty and leadership have helped shape the culture of the club. Described as a great teammate and an even better leader, Sinclair’s presence on and off the field has made a lasting impact - every teammate loves having him beside them. Sinclair was one of the better players for the Kangaroos during Saturday’s win. The Kangaroos started well, racing away to a 19-point lead after kicking four goals and four behinds in the opening quarter. Some inaccurate kicking in the second quarter resulted in the Kangaroos adding another goal and six behinds, but they managed to extend their lead to 22 points going into the main break. The lead opened up to four goals with one quarter remaining, but the Kangaroos’ defensive line stood resolute as they had to endure a late charge by the Two Blues to hold on for the victory. The Kangaroos’ goal kickers included Rhys Leary (3), Lachlan Robertson (3), Liam Sinclair (2) and one each for James Godde, Dean Ross and Jack Cullen. Their best players were Rhys Leary, Liam Sinclair, Lachlan Leary, Lachlan Robertson, Blake Basham and Wilson Morshead. The Under 18.5s Kangaroos had a bye. In round 15 on Saturday, the Kangaroos seniors and reserves will host The Rock Yerong Creek Magpies, while the Under 18.5s will play the North Wagga Saints on Saturday at Nixon Park. The bounce-up for the seniors is at 2.10pm, 12.10pm for the reserves and the Under 18.5s will start at 10.20am.
